We have already fallen in love with our new town. The scenery is so pretty and green and there are lots of parks, running/biking paths and of course the ocean. So far everyone we have met has been super friendly and helpful and we haven't had too many problems understanding the Kiwi accent. Some of the words and phrases are interesting...I will be sure to fill you in on that later.
Our temporary apartment is fairly nice. The location is great, located 2 blocks from the beach in the middle of town. Lots of cute little coffee shops and restaurants and the mall is conveniently located right across the street! However, it is quite small to fit our 6 suitcases, 2 bikes and golf clubs. There is no storage, so we are looking forward to getting our own place soon. We met with a relocation agent and she is going to show us some houses in the coming weeks.

We both weren't really looking forward to picking up the rental car. Driving on the opposite side of the road in the opposite side of the car was a scary experience to say the least. Tyler turned on the windshield wipers a dozen times before it finally sunk in that the signal lights are also on the opposite side. And as we approached our first traffic circle, I think we both said "oh shit" at the same time. I need to practice with Tyler a few times before I venture out on my own.
We are looking forward to exploring the area and getting comfortable with our surroundings. So far so good :)
This is Jill on Marcus' profile :). Sounds like all in all it was a pretty smooth journey to get there! Love the pictures, too!
